Web Marketing
Once your Web Site or Application is designed and implemented, the next step is marketing and promotion.
Many Web Site owners make the mistake of expecting their Web Site to market itself.
That will not happen. Marketing is an important on-going process for the success
of any site and you budget for it accordingly.
Search Engine Optimisation
When we create your Web Site, we include as many "search engine friendly" features
as possible into the code. For example, in their order of importance:
- Good Title tags
- Appropriate meta keywords and descriptions
- Appropriate page names and links
- Keyword-rich header tags
- Keyword-rich alt tags for images
- Keyword-rich comments
However, the most important ingredient for the search engines in any Web Site is
the text content. Good keyword-rich content is vital to achieve a good ranking with
any free search engine such as Google or MSN. You should aim to have at least 250 words
of text on each page.
Once your Site is suitably optimised in this way, we will submit it to the major
search engines. Then the waiting begins. It can take many months for a new Web Site
to become listed
and there is no way to speed up the process.
Pay per Click
In the meantime, we recommend using
Pay per Click (PPC) Search Engines such as Google
AdWords or Overture. These are a very cost effective way to get targeted traffic immediately. You select a series of suitable keywords to bid on and, as the name
suggests, you only pay when someone clicks through from your ad to your Web Site.
We can also set up conversion tracking for your PPC campaigns so that you can measure
the cost of sales on your Web Site against your PPC spend.
Shopping Search Engines
If you are selling products on your Web Site, there are other methods of attracting
traffic such as Froogle, Google's free shopping search engine, or one of the many
price comparison Web Sites such as Kelkoo.
Direct Mail
Finally, Direct eMail is another important tool in marketing your Web Site. You
can buy an opt-in targeted mailing list or build your own subscriber list, but it
is an important step in keeping in touch with your customers and targeting new ones.
Discover IT can help you with any or all of the above. Please
