Steve Arrowsmith (Group ICT Manager), Paul Inskip (Managing Director) and Alan Inskip (Development Manager): When Fyfe Group set out to provide Web-based insurance management facilities for its Agents and end user customers we selected Discover IT as our development partner. Discover IT had helped us establish our Internet presence and we were impressed with their project management and control skills, their ability to deliver effective solutions with measurable benefits, and to provide a real return on investment. The first project was www.monthlymotortrade.com, a "full cycle" monthly motor trade system for motor traders.  We required a system that could handle all aspects of:

• insurance quotations
• policies issue
• mid-term adjustments
• renewals processing
• cancellations processing
• automated payments processing using Barclays ePDQ
• documents issue . . . downloadable AND via email
• interface with the Fyfe Group accounting system
• compliance management.

As the policy term is monthly, renewals are processed automatically at the start of each month, preceded by automatically emailed renewal reminders sent 7 days in advance.

All users are automatically assigned secure personal logins that allow them to process adjustments, download certificates, add and delete vehicles, and cancel policies. Continuous availability is vital to its success and Discover IT hosts, maintains and backs up  the application for us. They have achieved substantially better than 99.9% uptime.

The application uses the Microsoft .Net Framework and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to implement the User Interface, the Business Logic and the Data Storage and Access. dynamicPDF is used for generating documents. Web Services are employed to access postcode and car registration lookups. And it all works over the Internet.

Following the success of this project, we engaged Discover IT again to develop the www.tempcover.com web application that enables Agents and end user customers to obtain short-term cover policies for private cars and commercial vehicles.

This web application won first prize at the UK Broker Awards 2006 in the category
'Most Effective Use of E-Business' .

In particular, the website enables Agents to manage their customers and to manage their commissions received. This innovative application has released a "pent-up" demand and has been a great success for us. Again, it is hosted and managed for us by Discover IT and has proven to be a very robust and reliable application.

Overall, we are very pleased with the well-tailored bespoke systems that have been delivered at a significantly lower price than that for which we could source a more generalised application that would not suit our purpose so well. Discover IT has worked effectively and closely with us to get the specifications and application architectures exactly right for our requirements.
