Stratford Holiday Let is a family business, established over the last 8 years, letting
holiday cottages in Stratford-upon-Avon. They currently have 3 cottages to rent
and are currently refurbishing more to add to their portfolio.
The www.stratfordholidaylet.co.uk web site provides a means of advertising the holiday cottages as well as an online
booking system for people to reserve a cottage for their chosen dates and pay for
it online. Once a cottage has been booked, the customer receives a private login
to the admin section of the site where they can review and/or modify their booking
or make a payment.
Requirements
The requirement was a web site which would promote the properties whilst cutting
out the "middlemen" in any transactions, so that the family could have complete
control over the bookings of their properties. It needed to be easy to use and allow
the customers to book the cottage of their choice and be given an accurate cost
based upon length of stay, number of occupants, time of year, etc.
The Solution
Discover IT developed this web site using ASP.Net technology with property and customer
details stored in a SQL Server 2005 database. It runs on a Windows 2003 server.

The online booking form has a comprehensive calendar system which shows availability
of the cottages and colour-coded price rates.
To make a booking, all that is required is to enter the length of stay and select
a start date. The price will be automatically calculated depending on season
and whether there are any applicable supplements for heating, etc. If you are happy
with the price, you can enter your details and finalise the booking.

You will then be transferred to a payment screen to either pay a deposit or the
whole rental fee.
After completing your booking, you are given a private login to a Booking Administration
section of the site. There you can view or edit your booking and make payments. |

There is a secure Master Administration section, unavailable to the public, which allows Stratford Holiday Let to manage the cottages and bookings. This includes cottage admin to set seasonal rate bands and block unavailable dates,
set cottage details such as capacity, booking and heating fees, etc. There is also
booking admin to list, view, amend and add comments to cottage bookings. Finally,
there
is a payment admin to monitor, adjust and refund payments. |
