Origin: South America, Mexico and USA.
Habitat: Scrub vegetation, semi-deserts and open landscapes.
Nesting: Mainly roosts in trees, cliffs or rocky areas.
Facts:
This large brown bird has an amazing six foot wingspan and looks a lot bigger in flight. The Turkey Vulture is a carrion eater and has a bald red head covered with small hairs, a protruding beak and large nostrils. This bird has a highly developed sense of smell and can detect a carcass by scent alone.

In the wild you may often see flocks of up to several hundred birds. These birds migrate north and south depending on the season.
