Malaysian Fish Owl

(Ketupa ketupa)

Origin: South East Asia.
Habitat:
Nesting: Uses the nests of other birds or an unlined cavity in a tree.
Facts: This Owl is 42cms (16½ inches) in length, has large eyes and long ears tufts. As its name suggests, it feeds on fish by making shallow dives for fish near the surface of the water. It has no feathers on its legs and feet and the soles of its feet are sharp and spiky. Its claws are long and curved.
